“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you ave done everything, to stand.”
Wow….what a reminder that I don’t need part of God’s armor, but all of it! It is quite significant to me, that Paul doesn’t say we are to do this in case the day of evil comes, or if it comes, but when it comes!!! Evil is all around us and some days we are the direct target. When that happens we have to be ready and fully dressed for battle in order to remain standing. The enemy wants nothing more than to knock us down. God, wants do to be prepared and to remain standing; that’s why we need every piece of the armor not just part of it!!! The result will be that we will still be standing through God’s mighty power and strength as he empowers us to fight the battle.
Father, there is a battle raging! Please help me to remember that! The battle is real. Help me also to remember that this battle is not against people, but against Satan and his evil forces. Yes, these things are sometimes manifested through people who are in physical positions of authority. But, the ultimate force behind some of what they do is Satan and his minions! He is the true enemy, not the people who are carrying out his bidding. They are lost in darkness and influenced by him and his demonic forces. They need you just as much as I did when I was lost in darkness, and just as much as I do now. Help me to see them as those who need to be saved, those who are perusing in the battle. They are part of what the battle is for! Satan wants me defeated so that I cannot give glory to you, and so that I cannot battle for those still enslaved in the dark side of this battle!!! I know you that you will rule and reign victorious in the end. Please help me to be diligent in this battle always remembering who the real enemy is. In the Powerful name of Jesus, Amen!!!
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes!
Help me, Lord, to daily remember that I am in a battle and I need your armor to fight this battle. The battle is real and the enemy is real; he schemes to knock me down and out of fight. I praise you, Lord, that I can stand against his schemes by your mighty power. Please use me this day, empowering me to be victorious in battle, dressed in your armor alone.
In the Powerful Name of the Lord Almighty,
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Father, you are Almighty and you are all-powerful! My strength for daily battle comes from you alone! Since you live inside of me there is not situation I face alone or in my own strength. Forgive me, Father, when I try to face the day without you and when I fail to acknowledge my dependency on you. Trying to do things of my own strength is so wearying. I turn from this and turn back to you trusting you to empower me to do all you called me to do!
In the Name of the Great I Am,
“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Father, this day is a gift from you! I celebrate that you allowed me to wake up this morning. I am glad to begin this day with you knowing that I am not on my own. You are LORD over this day; nothing I face today is going to catch you by surprise. Therefore, I can go through this day with confidence, empowered by you to do all you assign me. Help me to see everything as a divine appointment from you!
In Jesus Name, Amen!
“Stop trusting in man who has but breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?”
Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, that our nation will turn back to you and that we will stop trusting in men and their solutions to our problems. You alone are our help; you alone are our answer. Help us to once again trust in the Name of the Lord our God. Amen!
As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of Goddescending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-67
Day 2 – Matthew 3:1-17
Themes: Jesus’s authority and the need for repentance
Jesus being baptized by John
Prayer Ideas: Praise God for Jesus’ earthly ministry
Father, I praise you for the amazing gift of your Son who had no sin, who came and walked among us. Though he had no need to repent, he set the example for us, by submitting himself to baptism as an outward sign of us his relationship with you as he started his ministry here on earth! I praise you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are pictured in these verses! What a fitting way for Jesus’ ministry to begin, for that is how he did everything while he was here with us, and how it continues his ministry to us today, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together to bring the world to repentance and into a relationship with you!!! Thank you Holy Spirit for your work of convicting us of sin and pointing us to Jesus, who paid the penalty for our sin through his death and made made eternal life possible through his resurrection. Thank you Jesus for showing us the Father and bringing us into relationship with him. Thank you Father for the amazing sacrifice of your Only begotten Son which made all of this possible! Help us to live as Jesus lived, empowered by the Holy Spirit pointing the world to Him through whom they may know you, Our Father who art in Heaven! In the powerful name of the baby who was born to die for us all, Amen!!!
